The Promising Practices Portfolio is now a workshop for educators! In November, OSSS launched “Improving Early Learning Outcomes for Boys of Color: 10 Promising Practices,” a three-hour training based on the innovative equity strategies and approaches that were featured in the report developed by the Boys of Color workgroup. “This was, so far, the best training I have attended on this topic,” wrote one OUSD participant in a post-workshop evaluation survey. “I appreciated that this [workshop] actually talked about bias in education and education of young children.” OSSS, along with our collaborative partners, is proud to support the following events for Oakland early childhood providers: Improving Early Learning Outcomes for Boys of Color: 10 Promising Practices This online training introduces early childhood educators to equity-based strategies and promising practices that support our youngest Boys of Color to thrive. Educators will learn evidence-based reflective processes and instructional practices they can implement right away to strengthen self-awareness, disrupt reactivity and biases and create strength-based environments that are responsive to the brilliance, interests, and promise of our diverse Boys of Color. This training will be offered twice: • Saturday, Nov. 7th, 9am to 12pm -- OUSD ECE providers register here • Friday, Nov. 13th, 9am to 12pm -- non-OUSD providers register here |
