Systems Change

OSSS continues to serve as a leading voice in the City of Oakland to strengthen the systems that touch the lives of children and families. We will continue to work towards a city where our public investments and systems fully support Oakland children and families most impacted by racial and economic inequity.

Early Development Instrument (EDI): This tool gives a snapshot of young childrens’ health, development, and school readiness within each “zone” or neighborhood.
Policy and Advocacy: OSSS has developed a community-driven policy agenda grounded in systems change for Oakland’s youngest learners, parent and family leadership in community investment, and equity for early childhood professionals and friend/family/neighbor caregivers.
