2024-25 Oakland Early Learning Symposium, Baby Steps: Shifting to Care for Younger Children11/19/2024
The first Oakland Early Learning Symposium for the 2024-25 year, Baby Steps: Shifting to Care for Younger Children, focused on the changing early learning landscape in Oakland and the Bay as Universal PreK and Transitional Kindergarten roll out across the state. *Updated 11/20/2024* Election Day is just around the corner on November 5th! We reached out to candidates running for office to represent Oakland - City Council, Oakland Unified School Board, City Attorney, and Alameda County Board of Supervisors - and asked them to complete a questionnaire about their experience and views on Oakland’s early childhood ecosystem. We received 17 responses from 41 candidates. The Oakland Starting Smart and Strong 2022-2025 Strategic Plan was created with action at its center – we did not intend for it to sit on a shelf (or in a PDF). The plan, developed in collaboration with over 300 stakeholders, builds on our past successes, maps a clear strategic direction forward, and is deeply rooted in our commitment to racial justice and equity.
