ABOUT SARAH

Picture
Favorite Children's Book:
Madeline, by Ludwig Bemelmans

Sarah ties the collaborative together, coordinating day-today activity so that Oakland Starting Smart and Strong partners can work together in service of Oakland’s youngest children and their families.

Sarah’s work life has always revolved around supporting young children. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Sarah moved to Southern California to attend Chapman University, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. While at school she interned as a family advocate at the Friendly Center, a family and community resource center that helps connect lower-income families and children to services in their communities.

After graduating, Sarah taught English to primary school children in Thailand. Upon returning to the Bay Area, she became a Behavior Therapist working with kids with autism using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Wanting to learn a new set up skills and help the community in a different way, Sarah joined Oakland Starting Smart and Strong in 2016. When she is not working, she is spending time with family and friends and traveling the world!
