Measure C is a 0.5% sales tax that was approved by voters in March 2020 to generate approximately $150 million annually for expanding access to early childhood education in Alameda County. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to make this historic funding a reality, especially First 5 Alameda County, Parent Voices Oakland, members of the Measure C Community Advisory Council and many, many others. Applications for Early Care and Education Emergency Grants from First 5 Alameda County are now open! This new funding is made possible by Measure C and is designed to help people who provide child care in homes and centers stay open, improve their facilities, buy supplies, pay workers, and more. Those eligible are licensed providers who can qualify based on location or by accepting subsidies. To receive funding, a program must be licensed in good standing, be open, and remain open in Alameda County with children from birth to age 5 enrolled. Grant funding will begin to go out in July. Learn more about the grants and find out if you are eligible for funding here. All Family/Friend/Neighbor Caregivers (FFNs) who accept payment by voucher or alternative payment agency are also eligible for funding. Eligible unlicensed FFN providers DO NOT NEED to apply and will receive funding directly from their alternative payment agency. Call First 5 Alameda County today at 510.227.6964 to find out if you’re eligible as an FFN. Comments are closed.
